When growth outruns your systems in Denton County, TX, I can help.
Companies here are adding systems faster than anybody can connect them. I get the ones you already have working together.
Every tool made sense at the time.
Denton County is growing about as fast as anywhere in the country. The Square anchors Denton, the universities still set the rhythm, and fifteen minutes past the schools you are back in ranch country. There are businesses here now that didn't exist a few years ago.
Growth adds systems faster than anybody connects them. A warehouse system, a second location, an online channel, a tool somebody bought to solve one specific thing. Every one of them was the right call at the time - and now none of it agrees, and somebody spends the first week of every month building a report by hand.
I can help when...
- Your software doesn't do what you need it to do
- You're entering the same information twice, usually into your accounting system and something else
- Your numbers don't match across systems, or you can't get reports you can rely on
- You don't know which products, services, or customers are making you money
- You're exporting to Excel every time you need an answer you can trust
- Your systems should work together, but don't
- Everything runs through one person, and the business can't grow past them
- The person who built your system is gone, and nobody else knows how it works
- You're deciding whether to buy, build, or replace software
- You need someone who speaks both business and tech
- You've already tried to fix this and it's still not fixed
A few examples of what I fix.
Accounting, inventory, and vendor systems each lived in their own world. Getting a straight answer meant pulling from all three and piecing it together by hand.
The three started feeding one central place automatically. Instead of chasing numbers across systems and stitching them together, the answer was already there - and it was the same answer no matter who asked or which department they were in.
A business couldn't tell which products or customers were making money.
They could finally see which products, customers, and channels made money - and which quietly lost it.
A shipping process ran on manually printed labels, and too many wrong orders went out the door.
Every order got scanned and verified before it shipped, so the wrong ones got caught at the dock instead of at the customer. Wrong shipments went from a regular problem to almost never.
The internal ERP was being asked to handle everything, and it couldn't do all of it well. The more it got stretched, the more the business felt it.
Best-in-breed tools went on top of the ERP to handle what it couldn't - some off-the-shelf, some custom - so each part got what it actually needed. The data side moved to a cloud data warehouse that could keep up with the business instead of holding it back.
These are just a few of the problems businesses have brought me to fix.
Software, data, process, people - whatever it is that's broken.
Many businesses don't need a full-time systems and data person on payroll. What they need is someone who has already solved this kind of thing. That might be one conversation, a project with a clear outcome, or something ongoing. Whatever best fits what you're dealing with.
The work runs from getting two systems to talk to each other, to building reporting people can trust, to automating something a person does by hand every week, to figuring out what software to buy before you're stuck with it, to leading a team of technical operators. Some businesses want me to do the work. Others take the direction and run with it themselves.
People search for this in a dozen different ways. Whatever you call it - if it touches your software, your data, the way work moves through the business, or the people doing that work - it's probably what I do. If the printer won't print, that's not me.
